Description
A rare example of a Georgian mahogany campaign silver chest. A truly superb piece, it is in fine authentic condition, commensurate its age and includes the original fitted interior with hand written labels and removable trays. The chest retains the substantial and original Robert and Francis Barron lock (stamped Barrons Patent). Original substantial brass carrying handles and original wheel brass castors.
From 1790, the company was listed as Ironmonger and Brazier to the King (George III) and this chest is dated from circa 1800.
A fantastically versatile piece of furniture: coffee table, bedside table, toy chest or ottoman. A practical piece and a real collector’s piece.
